Why outline before you write?
Method statement questions are often broad, with a tight word limit. Answers lose marks by missing a topic the evaluator expected, or by spending most of the words on one. An outline with a rough word split shows where the words should go before you start.
How the draft score works
- Headings covered. Whether the draft touches each topic expected for your sector.
- Specifics. Numbers, dates and named roles, rather than general claims.
- Evidence and KPIs. Case study or certificate references, and targets with a number and a timeframe.
- Risk and mitigation. Risks named and a control or fallback for each.
- Readability and limit. Sentence length, weak or passive phrasing and compliance with the word limit.
